Mauretanien : A Tea in Sahara
The caravan of tales in the Moorish desertA blue Atlantic façade surrounded by three huge golden walls … Mauritania welcomes you in its beautiful "house" of sand, windows opened on the majestic desert and beaten by the Sahara hot wind. The extreme barrenness of the land finds its equal in the warm hospitality of its inhabitants; used to see swaying dunes and rich human encounters. Traditional gateway between North Africa and Black Africa, the land of the Moors is a place of intermixing and exchanges; where Fulanis, Wolofs and Soninkés, African nomads, live together with their Arab-Berber brothers. All have in common the love of the magnificent landscapes which saw them being born. Embark on the back of your camel, and let yourself go to the slow and swaying step of your "vessel" …Head to the heart of the country; in the Adrar range for instance… White Valley, green Valley, waves of golden dunes in sharp contrast with High black cliffs, majestic gorges, canyons, rocky peaks or regs and narrow passes … From this festival of colors, forms and feelings, you will have so many stories to tell when you reach the green oasis of Terjit or the mythical city of Chinguetti. In this cradle of the Moors, very old manuscripts are preciously preserved behind the walls of old houses and ancient libraries. For the unwritten history and desert tales, listen to your guide when you settle around the campfire, relaxing under the traditional « khaima », sipping a refreshing mint tea.
