The Markha Valley trek is amongst some of the most picturesque and varied trails in the world. It leads us over mountain passes that are higher than 4 575m, before circling around the edges of the Indus Valley and finally crossing through Zanskar. You will travel through many diverse landscapes - from narrow valleys to vast open plateaus. The trek is made even more interesting by our visits to monasteries and relics from an ancient Buddhist way of life.

The trails are marked with many “chortens” (tombs) and “mani” (prayer walls), which is a testimony to the strong Buddhist culture of this region. As we walk towards the Markha Valley, our efforts are rewarded by the spectacular view of the jagged summits that are covered in snow. We then cross the Kongmaru La mountain pass at an altitude of 5150m, before hiking down towards the famous Hemis monastery, where our trek ends. We also spend a few days exploring the amazing town of Leh.
