4th highest summit .. 24 days after !
The Lhotse; meaning "South Peak" in Tibetan, can be climbed without oxygen and without spending too many days above 7000m; provided you acclimatise properly. This climb offers all the ingredients of an Everest climb, and will exceed your expectations. On summit day, there will be less climbers than on the Everest; but this does not minimize the challenge !!!A climb without oxygen is for the purists...Mountaineers that like to excel and go beyond their limits.
In a few words...
The Lhotse summit consists of 3 peaks, "Lhotse main" or north-western peak, "Lhotse Shar" or south peak and "Lhotse East" or north-eastern peak. The north-western face is mainly an icy wall of 1500m over the west comb, with 40° and 80° slopes. The southern face, is one of the most spectacular walls of the Himalaya, with more than 3500m. The north-eastern peak is the least accessible and still unclimbed.
