This “beginner’s path” to the foot of Everest will take you on a grand tour of the Khumbu Valley. The trek quickly breaks away from the main route to the ‘Roof of the World’ and instead leads towards the glacial lakes of Gokyo. These lakes are situated under the Ngozumpa glacier, and the amazing ice sculptures that form around it. The next part of the trek is not for the faint-hearted as it comes back to the Khumbu Valley by several high altitude mountain passes, including Cholatse at 6440m. Once you are back on the main track to the new Everest base camp, you will continue up to Kalapatthar, where the views of Everest are exceptional. Due to the high altitudes, this trek includes many steps to acclimatise everyone.

During this trek you will see incredible views of the Himalayas, including four of the highest mountains on earth: Cho Oyu (8,153m), Makalu (8,475m), Lhotse (8,500m) and Everest (8,848m). In the heart of the Sherpa region, well known for its great hospitality, you will get a first-hand experience of these charming villages. You can take a break in traditional Nepalese tea houses and visit ancient monasteries in this region, with its numerous legends of Tibetan Buddhist Saints.
