The successive migrations from China, Thailand, India, Cambodia make up the actual ethnical mosaic of Vietnam and have greatly influenced its history and culture. The "Kins" or "Viets" form the major ethnical community besides the other 53 ethnical communities. Many communities of Chinese origin have migrated and settled in northern Vietnam, forming the major ethnical communities of the north, mainly the H'Mongs, Daos, Giay, Tays and Nungs, recognizable by their colorful traditional dresses, their specific dialectes and traditions.
