Jordan : The splendours of the desert
All the magic of the Orient and oceans of sand considered to be one of the birth-places of the world, the middle-orient Hashemite kingdom is small, but it still knows how to shine. Tightly surrounded by its neighbours; Syrians, Iraqis, Saudi Arabians and Israelis; spread across the length of desert-covered Jordan are some of the most beautiful sandy gems in the world and magnificent natural water reserves, including the impressive Wadi Mujib canyon. The historical road for the incense route, Jordan has carefully keeps all traces of its past, from North to South, from the Dead Sea to the Red Sea. In the steam of a hookah, between cardamom coffees and a ceremonial tea, let the hospitable people tell you stories and show you their country. On your path, you will cross the ancient Jerash, the city of Karak, the solid fortress of Ajloun, and the splendour of splendours, the nabatean Petra. In the age-old pink city, carved out of the same rock are tombs, temples and striking monuments that will amaze you, as will the magical Wadi Rum desert, with breath-taking red sand. Incredible arches, gigantic towers carved out by the weather: this desert of multicoloured sandstone will take your breath away, although the extraordinary natural maze is only truly known by the Bedouins. Fall in step with the desert...
