The team of TREK ONLINE selected for you the best trips, the best mountains and the best places. All our trips are planed in order to give you the best chance to reach your objectives. Acclimatization to altitude, first class equipment, adapted food, respect of planning and changes based on your request and needs, TREK ONLINE is first of all real experience and a operational know-how. We guarantee that each itinerary correspond to our charter «Sportif & security» and «Quality & nature». QUALITY & NATURE CHARTER : Protection of the nature : TREK ONLINE forced itself to respect this charter «Quality & nature» (see further), in which in particularly we engage ourself to bring back and to recycle 100% of the non-biodegradable rubbish. Please help us: give us the used batteries, your plastic bags, your disposable camera, your paper, cigarette stub (for smoker !), etc. We bring with us the water that we use (except in high altitude where we use the melt snow). Water is an essential element for your acclimatization to high altitude. Tea for breakfast, soup, tea the evening: water will be an important element which will help you during all the efforts. Quality charter : It is our spirit, "quality" places, "quality" plannings, "quality" advice, "quality" circuit, accompanists, the organisation and the logistic... All this should be taken into account in those specific natural environments : high altitude, mountain which are far away from the city, desert, lake etc... Handling of natural constraints is our know- how, and TREK ONLINE will show you those exceptional and unique places while taking into consideration the local balance. While doing a normal expedition in high mountain you will be confronted to altitude, the sun, the wind, the cold, and the snow. Under tropic condiditions, either in South America, the Himalaya, or the Kilimandjaro, the power of those elements are multiplied Thanks to its experience with expedition, TREK ONLINE answers to all of those problems specificly ... Acclimatization and altitude It is for the same reason that all our trips integrate acclimatization program, in order for you to get used to the altitude and the effort and eventually specific training adapted for each of you. Some of our expeditions integrate more than 4 treks or acclimatization trainings, which precede the expedition. In South America, our city of arrival is La Paz, the highest capital above sea level in the world. It is definitely the most suitable to allow acclimatization to the altitude. In fact, at your arrival at La Paz, your organism will start to generate red blood cells. You will eat at 4000m, you will stay overnight at hotels at 4000m. This means before the start of your expedition or trek, you will have spent one to two days at 4000m at conditions you are used to at your house and not in tents. By doing so, your body will learn to economize. In the Himalayas and at the Kilimanjaro, where the capitals are situated at a much lower altitude, we are responsive to each special problem occurring. Please refer to the descriptions of the respective trip. The sun: Above 4000m and in the tropics, solar radiation is extraordinarily strong and warms the snow layers much faster than in the Alps. During our expeditions we assure ascents to summits before solar radiation can modify rock faces to ensure maximum safety. Besides, far from urban polluted centres, snow layers on the tropical summits, particularly in the Andes or its deserts, with the purest skies in the world, offer unforgettable and indescribable light displays Wind: At night in the Andes, winds blow over the desert plains and wipe away the clouds towards the Amazon plains. This allows you often to go on expeditions or treks at very favourable conditions. Attention : Good weather conditions cannot be guaranteed. During expeditions you might be obliged to return or to stay in our tents at the base camp, until weather conditions allow to proceed. TREK ONLINE will always try to anticipate weather conditions and to propose interesting alternatives if necessary, without additional charge. You might be confronted by their strongs winds during ascents. These winds can also build hard icy field structures (“penitentes”) near summits. Both of them imply a further challenge of your physical constitution. In the Himalayas, conditions are more accidental, even in the most favourable seasons. At the Kilimanjaro, conditions at expeditions are favourable most of the time. Chill: TREK ONLINE disposes North Face tents in perfect condition and provides you, if necessary, with new sleeping bags (Comfort zone - 20°C) which will be washed before every trek. Below 4000m, nights are often very cold and consolidate snow fields for the next morning. We start ascents at night to ensure conditions at maximum safety and arrival at the summit at sunrise. Snow: Snow is mainly a subject of importance at expeditions or treks at high altitude. Snow layers in the mountain areas of Bolivia, Chile and Argentina are relatively stable. This allows us to plan ascents in environments well known by our experienced guides – an additional ace in the hole. Snow storms occur relatively seldom in these areas. In the Himalayas, conditions are much more variable and expeditions are much more subject to weather conditions. |
